Skytrans Airlines ceases trading

Skytrans Airlines announced yesterday that it ceased operations with immediate effect.

In summary:
  • Skytrans Commenced charter operations in 1990
  • Began scheduled services in 1993
  • Merged with Air Swift Aviation in 2000
  • Took over Karumba and Cooktown services from Macair Airlines 2001
  • Merged with QRA in 2006
  • With Macair Airlines closure Skytrans expands Cape routes 2009

SKP23 VH-QQB DH8A Cairns-Coen-Lochart River-Bamaga-Cairns
SKP61 VH-QQF DH8A Cairns-Mt Isa-Cairns
SKP9086 VH-QQG DH8A Brisbane-Cairns

Today the following aircraft were noted parked around and near the Skytrans Engineering facility at Cairns Airport:
VH-QQA, VH-QQB, VH-QQC, VH-QQF, VH-QQG, VH-QQI and VH-QQM -300 (in maintenance).
