Three of the four stranded airframes (2 x C402, 1 x BN-2 and 1 x Beech Baron) from the Lakunai airstrip in Rabaul (see Y'year for Sep 94-3rd  image down) following the volcanic eruption, were eventually shipped to Madang, where they were photographed in a sad state in Jan 95.  It is not known the fate of the other C402 (presumably scrapped on site).

Mid Jan a rare Ukrainian registered TU-154 of BSL airline was parked on the GA ramp during its stopover.  It was transporting a Kyrgystan Arts group. (pic supplied).

Chinese New Year flights now in full swing!

Hong Kong Airlines commenced 4 weekly services on the 9th of January and China Eastern Airlines commenced daily services on the 16th of January for the build up to the Chinese New Year. Both airlines will operate until the end of March 2016.

To date the following flights have operated:
