FNQ Yestayear Images - August 1992

The best visitor of the year so far was this L188 Electra N3209A seen here arr on the 13th from HIR after its ferry from Miami.  It was on its way to its new base at PER where it was to join newly established Indian Ocean Airlines as VH-IOB.  The new company announced that is was to service the Coco's Islands and Christmas Island from Sep.  It dep for PER next day seen here off RW15.

Southwest BN-2 P2-SWC on the 7th returning to POM after maintenanace.

A new entrant on the domestic scene was Southern X (Trading as Compass Airlines ), which was the (Mk2) version, after the collapse of the original company.  It commenced services on the 31st using MD-82's (ex SAS).  Here VH-LNI is seen at the holding point for RW33.

DC-3 VH-BPN seen here ready for delivery to Dick Lang's Desert Air Safaris.  It is in an all white trim following its previous guise as a movie prop  in 'Pan American Airways System'  period c/s.
