FNQ Yestayear Images - March 1994

Freeport's VIP B757 N680FM stopped over on the 6th, en-route Timika-Honolulu

Chee Air C402 P2-CBC visited on the 16th en route from Archerfield to LAE

C-47 N65388 wearing South Pacific titles departed for Camden on the 29th. It would return later as VH-SPY. 25 years on the aircraft is still extant (and complete) at Cairns.

Veteran and former Talair Twin Otter P2-RDB, was sold in the USA as N669JW to a company for use as a skydiving platform, and dep on its ferry on the 21st. It was still performing this task last year (see Twin Otter Spotter blog photo last year).

Skytrans heads back into the air!

Skytrans operated today for the first time since early January when it ceased operations.

In the morning VH-QQG DH8A operated a test flight Cairns-Cairns and later in the afternoon operated its first service to Bamaga as SKP833 VH-QQG Cairns-Bamaga-Cairns.

Regional Express operated their first service from Cairns to Bamaga return today with their Saab 340. The service will operate Monday-Friday, this compliments their Cairns-Gulf run service which started earlier in the year.

Cairns farewells final Qantas Link Q300 flight

Today saw the last Qantas Link Q300 flight into Cairns.
Operated by VH-SCE Dash 8 Q300 from Weipa to Cairns as QLK2481 arriving at 1556.

The airport firies gave the aircraft a fitting farewell with a water cannon salute as VH-SCE taxied into the Terminal bay 14A parking position.
