Atherton Aerodrome Report

During his holiday in Far North Queensland, Damian F of the CQ Plane Spotting Blog also spent some time in the Tablelands, specifically Atherton.  Of course, he popped into Atherton Aerodrome (Jim McAuliffe Field) which is managed by the Tablelands Regional Council.

Atherton Aerodrome is predominantly a general aviation orientated airport with a large number of privately owned hangars.  One of the prominent operators at Atherton is Tableland Air Services which operates both local scenic and crop spraying flights around the tablelands.  During his visit, Damian spotted their two current crop-dusters in the form of Cessna 188/A1 VH-KQC and Air Tractor AT-602 VH-ODO.

Another hangar at Atherton Aerodrome with a wide variety of privately-owned light and ultralight aircraft is the Tableland Aero Services hangar.  Also inside the hangar is a familiar helicopter to Damian in the form of AMT OH-58A VH-ABB.  Damian reports he has noted VH-ABB at his 'home airport' in Clermont.

It was a pretty quiet day at Atherton, however, Damian was advised that the weekends 'come alive' with the local aviators coming to the Airport for a fly!

Thanks again to Damian from CQ Plane Spotting for this great report.
