Japan Airlines commenced scheduled services from Tokyo to Brisbane via Cairns today.  DC-10-40 JA8545 operated the inaugural and is seen here landing at Cairns from Brisbane on its return to Tokyo.

November saw the commencement of new contractor Airfast, operating for Freeport Indonesia, using B737-200 equipment.  PK-OCF is seen here on its inaugural service to Cairns.  The Cairns based BAC1-11 PK-PJF (of previous contractor Pelita Air Services ) will be retired from the twice weekly service Cairns-Timika  over the new year.
