FNQ Yestayear Images - July 1991

July 21,  CAA F-28 VH-ATD in the trim of the period, taken from the old tower.  Aircraft went on to POM.


July 17, with just two minutes notice from a helpful tower to this photographer, a modified RAF Canberra took advantage of shooting an ILS and continued to fly down the runway at a respectable height.  This example was WH953 a model B.6 operated by the RAE, Boscombe Down and was wearing what was know as the 'Raspberry Ripple' scheme.  It was on TDY at RAAF Townsville at the time.  The radio c/s was 'Black Box 16'

July 05, PNGDF C-47 P2-004 visited for maintenance before departing for POM but encountered engine problems and returned.  It dep again a few days later.

delivered to POM by AN-22 (yes, not a typo) earlier on, these three KA-32's arr in Cairns from PNG via HID and Weipa on July 28.  They are CCCP 31020, CCCP 31029 and CCCP 31034.  The new Russian identifier RA had not been applied yet.

07 July, Twin Otter P2-IAA (ex VH-TNM) transitted on delivery to Islands at Rabaul.

July 02, Pelita Air Services operated on behalf of Freeport PK-PJM an F28-4000 for the Timika service in reverse on this day.
